Are U Game presents The 2nd Piqua Comic Con at the National Guard Amory located in Piqua, Ohio. Coming on Saturday November 8th from 10:00am to 4:00pm. There will be a variety of artists, film makers, and vendors. Also a list of events including a Magic the Gathering tournament, HeroClix, and Board Games. There will also be more events announced as the date gets closer!
The Comic Con hosts a variety of items for sale. Local Artists of various types will be selling unique artwork. Film makers will be on hand to showcase their movies made in the Dayton area. Vendors will be selling a variety of comic books, toys, video games, gaming items, and so much more. There will definitely be a wide variety of things for everyone to enjoy!
The Piqua Comic Con started as a collaboration between the owners of Are U Game, Paul and Tina Lee, and Jack Kacin. They worked together to create the first show in May of 2014. The goal is to have two events a year and choose 1-2 organizations to raise money, items, and awareness for. At the first show food was collected and donated to local soup kitchens, also money was raised to buy equipment for the Miami County Dental Clinic's Portable Unit which operates from grants and donations.
This November Piqua Comic Con chose Toys for Tots and His Hands Extended Sanctuary which is a non-profit animal rescue located in St. Paris, Ohio. These are two very deserving organizations who work in different ways to make a better world.
The items and money are raised by asking for donations instead of vendor fees and admission fees. Vendors are asked to make a donation of around a $30 value in items, toys, money or any combination. And admission will be a donation of any new packaged toy for Toys for Tots, or items needed for the Sanctuary or any monetary donation that they choose. Also several raffles for various items are held to raise money.
Items needed for the Sanctuary can include: paper towels, bleach, dish washing liquid, laundry detergent, Clorox disinfectant wipes. Alcohol and peroxide, Lowes or Home Depot gift cards for projects and repairs, canned cat food and dry cat food (we prefer to stay with the better brands as to not cause stomach upset), standard printing paper white, business sized envelops, floor cleaner, and always cash donations.
